Hjalti Gudmunsson

På lördagen finns det verkligen möjlighet att fördjupa sina kunskaper inom islandshästar.

Med oss har vi ingen mindre än Hjalti Gudmunsson, godkänd hovslagare och hovslagarlärare på Wången, som dessutom tävlar på elitnivå på islandshäst sporten. Hjalti kommer hålla två föreläsningar på lördagen, och båda ingår i lördagens dagsbiljett.

Under föreläsningen 9:00-10:30 i stora ridhuset kommer Hjalti att gästas av Daniel Sundin Brumpton och hans fru Katie Sundin Brumpton. Daniel är godkänd hovslagare och klinikhovslagare på Evidensia i Helsingborg. Katie är landslagsryttare för det finska landslaget och har flera internationella meriter inom islandshäst sporten. Tillsammans kommer de att fokusera på hovslagarens roll mot tränaren/tävlingryttaren och det viktiga samarbetet mellan dom två kunskaps områdena mot prestation och hållbarhet. 14:00-15:30 i läktarsalen kommer Hjalti prata om skoning av islandshäst med fokus på gångarter och rörelse samt fortsättning prestation och hållbarhet.

English – Hjalti Gudmunsson is a farrier and works at Wången Farrier School. Besides from that, he is also cometing on elite level on Icelandic horses. He will do two lectures on the Saturday – both of them are included in the day ticket.

In the Main Indoor at 9:00-10:30 he will talk together with Daniel Sundin Brumpton and Katie Sundin Brumpton. Daniel is a farrier at Evidensia Veterinary Clinic in Helsingborg. His wife Katie is a national team rider for Finland and has many international merits with Icelandic sports. Together they will focus on the role between the farrier and the rider and the importance of good partnership towards prestation and sound horses. This lecture will be held in mostly Swedish, but they are happy to answer questions in English.

At 14:00-15:30 in the Auditory hall he will talk more about shoeing the Icelandic horse with focus on gaits, prestation and soundness. This lecture will be in Swedish.


Billy Mulqueen

We have the great honor to present Billy Mulqueen as one of the speakers. Billy is working with racehorses and is an expert to work with them from foal and young horses all the way to a top performing athlete.

Billy is a part of the Mustad Hoofcare team and we are so happy that they are one of our main sponsors.

His lecture is in English and it is on the Sunday and is included in the day ticket.


Jan Krogh

We are so excited that Jan Krogh will come back to us this year.

Jan Krogh has over 40 years of experience in shoeing horses and has participated in seminars all around the world. He has a lot of exciting lectures, from flip flops to how to keep a horse sound from foal to adult – and all of them are in English and they are included in the day tickets.


Kristjan Elvar Gíslason

Want to know more about shoeing Icelandic horses?

We are proud to announce that Kristjan Elvar Gíslason are joining us – a big thanks to Mustad Hoofcare for being one of our main sponsors and for contributing with such a top lecturer!

This lecture will be held in English and is in the main indoor riding hall on the Saturday at 11:00-12:30. It is included in the day ticket.


Steve O’Grady

Dr. Steve O’Grady was a professional farrier for ten years prior to obtaining his degree in veterinary medicine. He graduated from Haverford College and then went on to graduate from the University of Pretoria, Faculty of Veterinary Science in South Africa with a DVM Degree. He currently operates Virginia Therapeutic Farriery in Keswick, Virginia, which is a referral practice devoted to foot disease and equine therapeutic farriery. He has published thirty-three peer-reviewed papers in the veterinary literature, numerous papers in the farrier literature, written 18 book chapters and edited two editions of Veterinary Clinics of North America on equine podiatry and therapeutic farriery.

His lectures are:

Friday – 9-10:30 Demo in the forge with hoof cast and wooden shoes – included in the day ticket

Friday – 16-17:30 pm Form and function of the equine foot as it pertains to farriery’ – included in the day ticket

Saturday – 14-15:30 Round table discussions – theme of the discussion is Sport Horses – this needs both a day ticket for the Saturday and a separate ticket for the round table

Saturday – 16-17:30 ‘Barefoot methodology: advantages / limitations – this needs both a day ticket for the Saturday and a separate ticket for this lecture

Sunday – 9-10:30 ‘What constitutes good foot conformation and how do we determine it’ – this is included in the day ticket


Helene Nøklestad

Helene Nøklestad is both a veterinarian and a farrier – what a great mix of knowledge! She always strive to learn more and is appreciated for her great way to handle the horses. In her lecture “Advanced anatomy” you can take the opportunity to learn more about the horses anatomy by dissection and theoretical lecture. It takes place in the forge at 9:00-10:30. She is also a part of the Round table 11:00-12:30 on Friday. Both of these are “advanced” lectures and you need both a day ticket and a specific ticket for the “Advanced anatomy” lecture and the Round Table.


Ulf Hedenström

Ulf är Riksanläggningsveterinär på Wången. Han kommer att hålla två föreläsningar under eventet.

”Förekomst och betydelse av hovbroskförbening”- Den stora bilden och hur vi navigerar i gränslandet mellan det fysiologiska och det sjukliga och även om

”Hovbroskförbening-förekomst” – betydelse och patalogi. Denna föreläsning hålls i läktarsalen 14:00-15:30.

Den andra är en beskrivning av det stora ”Hygienprojekt” som nyligen genomfördes på Wången. Denna hålls i ”Speakers corner” på mässan 14:00-15:30.

Båda föreläsningarna är på Svenska och ingår i dagsbiljetten.

Ulf kommer även vara med i Rundabordssamtalet på lördagen, då behöver du både dagsbiljett för lördagen samt en specifik biljett för det Rundabordssamtalet.

Ulf is the national facility veterinarian at Wången. He will give two lectures during the event.

”Incidence and significance of hoof cartilage ossification” – The big picture and how we navigate the borderland between the physiological and the pathological and even if

”Ossification of hoof cartilage-incidence” – meaning and pathology.

The second is a description of the large ”Hygiene project” that was recently carried out at Wången.

There will be truly interesting and knowledgeable lectures from the very best.

Both lectures will be held in Swedish and are part of the day ticket.

Ulf will also be a part of the Round Table on 11-12:30, for that you need both a day ticket for the Saturday and a specific ticket for the Round Table.


Jim Ferrie

Jim lives in Perthshire. His shoeing clientele includes Glasgow Vet College, where Jim has been Consultant Farrier since 1974. Jim also consults at Edinburgh Vet College as part of the Farrier Team. Gleneagles Equestrian Centre is under his care, as are numerous private clients.

Farriery contests filled his life for many years and the World Championships in Calgary were a Mecca for eighteen years consecutively. Though the individual title was elusive, many World Championship classes were won through the years. Attending the A.F.A. contests at the Convention Jim along with his brother, Allan, won the Two-Man Draught Shoes in Daytona and in Lexington. Having been selected for the Scottish Shoeing Team for nineteen years he has been a member of the winning team at the International competition in Stoneleigh.

Jim teaches further education courses both at home and overseas. Countries in which he has lectured include U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, France, Morocco and Ireland. In addition to his lecturing, he has co-written two chapters in Simon Curtis’ g entitled Corrective Farriery, and has had his work published in the Forge, A.F.J. and the F.Y.I. magazines. Together with his brother Allan, he has produced two farriery DVD’s.

Jim’s is a passionate fly-fisher and enjoys pheasant shooting in his spare time. And he also runs two salmon-fishing businesses on the River Tay in Perthshire.

Jim will do many interesting lectures, some of them are included in the day ticket and advanced lectures that you need to buy separate tickets for.

What’s the main factor of success? Preparation of course.

Take this opportunity to learn from the experienced farrier Allan Ferrie. His lecture ”Correct preparation for exams” will be held in English and is suitable for farrier students. It is included in the day ticket on Friday and takes place in the forge at 14:00-15:30 – don’t miss it. He will also do a clinic together with Jim Ferrie in the forge on Sunday at 9:00-10:30.


Moréno Söderlund

Moreno Söderlund är Godkänd hovslagare, utbildad på Hovslagarutbildningen på Flyinge. Med sig till utbildningen hade Moreno en mycket gedigen kunskap om hästars beteende och hantering. Som en följd av detta tilldelades Moreno stipendium för sitt mycket fina horsemanship när det var dags för stipendieutdelning på grundutbildningens examen.

Under Nordic Hoof Summit kommer Moreno hålla två demos. En med western och lite showtema på lördagen och en med hästhanteringstema på söndagen. Dessa är på svenska och ingår i dagsbiljetterna.

Moréno Sörderlund is a farrier who went to Flyinge Farrier School. He had a great knowledge of horses and their behaviour. He received a scholarship for his excellent horsemanship at his graduation. He will do two demos at Nordic Hoof Summit, one with western and show and one with horsemanship. These will be held in Swedish and is included in the day tickets.


Patrick Pollock

Want to know about how to handle a hoof trauma? Or perhaps targeted MRI or how to get it right from the start with foals? Then we got some good news for you! We are proud to announce that Patrick Pollock will be joining us again! Patrick will hold many very interesting lectures, some of them together with Jim Ferrie. It’s a teamwork around the horse and Jim and Patrick are a great example of veterinarian and farrier working together! Some of Patricks lectures are included in the day ticket and advanced lectures that you need to buy separate tickets for.


Hans Casteljins

One of our speakers will join us from sunny Tuscany. We look forward to the lectures with Hans Catstelijns! He has a lot of knowledge and a solid list of published articles. His lectures will be about hoof diseases and hoof reparations, back to basics in shoeing, and foals – normal maintenance, flexural deformities and angular deformities.

11-12:30 Round table discussions about hoof diseases and hoof reparations

16-17:30 Abcesses, thrush, canker, ceratoma, cracks, onycomicosis

All of these are “advanced” lectures and you need both a day ticket and a specific ticket for the each lecture and the Round Table.

Saturday

14-15:30 Basis of interpreting conformation, appropriate shoeing in relation to discipline – this lecture is included in the dayticket

16-17:30 Together with Jan Krogh in the forge – this lecture is included in the dayticket

Sunday

9-10:30 Foals – this lecture is included in the dayticket


Viahov

A lot of people are interested in boots, especially since you can do “hot shoeing” with boots! Anna Hane at Viahov will first hold a lecture in Grötrummet and then we will have a demo in the forge with Elise Hultqvist. This lecture is included in the day ticket on the Saturday.


Peter Glimberg

”Erfarenheter och tankar om skoning – sjukbeslag, mästerskap och barfota”

Peter Glimberg är hovslagare som har arbetat på klinik sedan 2009. Hans gedigna erfarenhet innefattar hovvård och skoning av med allt ifrån reahabilitering av klinikhästar, skoning av toppresterande mästerskapshästar, vanliga tävlingshästar och hobbyhästar. Ta chansen att få ta del av denna enastående kunskap.

Peter Glimberg is a farrier who has worked in a veterinary clinic since 2009. His solid experience is hoof care and shoeing of top performing horses for championships, show horses and hobby horses. Take this chance to take part of this outstanding knowledge.

Peters lecture will be held in Swedish and takes place in the auditory hall at 16:00-17:30 on Saturday and is included in the day ticket

Peter is a part of the round table session on Saturday 14:00-15:30 this needs both a day ticket for the Saturday and a separate ticket for the round table.


Johanna Wahlund

Ta chansen att ta del av sjukgymnastik anpassad för hovslagare samt övningar för hästar som ska öka sina fysiska förutsättningar att trivas med hovslagaren. Till detta har vi Johanna Wahlund – legitimerad Fysioterapeut. Hon är uppvuxen med hästar och både ridit och tävlat svår hoppning och medelsvår dressyr.

Några år efter skolan rest runt i världen och jobbat som beridare hos bl.a Jessica Kürten, Rodrigo Pessoa och Henk Nooren.

Legitimerad Fysioterapeut med examen från Lunds Universitet 2004, kompletterat med veterinärmedicinsk utbildning för sjukgymnaster och blev 2022 även godkänd av Jordbruksverket för arbete inom djurens hälso- och sjukvård.

Jobbar idag på Anicura Djursjukhuset I Hässleholm (smådjur) parallellt med den egna firman där både hästar o människor kan få hjälp med krämpor, hälsa o träning.

Rebecca Giegold Dip WCF and Elisabeth Zetterholm

Rebecca and Elisabeth will do a lecture about what it takes to use barefoot horses in a riding school. Rebecca is a farrier who has been shoeing championship horses, she is a breeder of showjumpers and is a very appreciated teacher in Flyinge Farrier School. She has been working with Elisabeths horses for many years and they will share their long experience.

This lecture will be in Swedish, it will take place in the auditory hall on the Sunday at 14-15:30 and is included in the Sundays dayticket.


Hovcompagniet

Hovcompagniet will do a demo of how to glue on a shoe in the forge on the Friday at 16-17:30. This demo is included in the day ticket!
